Newfields Art Museum will open its gates in March 2019.
The Singaporean Art Museum is an international venue that brings together the finest artworks from around the world, including works by the likes of Van Gogh, Picasso, Van Dyck, Dali, Rembrandt, and the late Andy Warhol.
Art, Architecture, Design and Designers of the Year Award 2017Singapore Arts and Culture Minister Datuk Dr Jock Lau said on Friday the new museum would offer an intimate, welcoming environment for visitors.
“We are proud to welcome the Singapore Art Museum to Newfields,” he said.
“Its an opportunity for Singaporeans to explore art and architecture together, which has the power to transform their lives and make a positive contribution to Singapore’s economy.”
The Newfields art gallery is one of the most diverse art galleries in Singapore, with a wide range of exhibitions and exhibitions featuring international artists, as well as contemporary art.
Dr Lau said the new gallery would include exhibitions by the international artist collective Avant-garde Artists, and will be the first Singaporean art gallery to open in the world.
The art gallery was inaugurated in March 2020 and opened its doors for the first time in May 2021.
